New total

Karin let me know that she has lost a total of 9.4lbs for the competition so our total lbs. lost is 104.9lbs!!!! WooHooo!!!

Friday, October 19, 2012

All right ladies, these pics were supposed to be for my own look see but decided to share them the top is the before and bottom is after. I have been so grateful to all of you who have gotten on and supported each other and posted weekly. I think that we all did a fantastic job. I challenge you to continue doing what you have been doing the last eight weeks keep it up! Total for those who have responded back to me today we have lost 95.5lbs together, that is amazing. If we counted the weight some of your husbands lost at the same time we would add another 45lbs to that as well. All I can say is..........

AMAZING JOB
THANK YOU!!!!!!

Happy Feet!!

CALLIE----- Hello! I'm going to turn my computer off and have it off this weekend so if you could please text me the results when you get them. Oh and I attached my picture of my pretty painted toes. Thanks!

If you want to add this to the blog:

This last week has been killer! I've managed to work out every day; morning, nap, and after the girls go to bed. Yesterday my husband and I went on a 9 mile walk up Waterton Canyon. I also read in a magazine, forgot which one, that every meal you should make it a point to fill half of your plate with fruits and veggies. And to switch to a smaller sized plate. So those are some of the things that I have been doing these last weeks. I feel a lot better! I dropped 2 pants sizes and a shirt size. When I started working out my legs would kill me after walking a mile! Now I can walk 9 miles! I didn't start off the competition with any goals but I plan on keeping up this exercise and diet. I plan on losing 20 more pounds by the end of the year. My total for the whole year (not just the competition) so far is 33lbs and 16%. Thanks ladies for the fun competition!
Total for the past week: 7.0lbs which is 4.04%
Total for the whole competition: I started at 189.6 and ended up at 166.4 = 23.2lbs which is12.24%

 CHANTRIE
Week 8
4lbs
2.54 %
Total
11.72%
20.4 lbs

DILONE---Added a couple of pounds during this birthday week. oh well. I do have
measurments though and that is exciting for me to see and know that I
am making progress. Slow but steady! Went up to 218.2 Started at
221.8.At beginning of contest Calf was 19" now 18.5". thigh was 29"
now 28,25". stomach was 43" now 41.5". chest stayed the same at 40"
and upper arm was 14.5 now 14"
Thanks for this opportunity it has given me a great start to get back
on the path and get some great habbits to keep me there. GINA---So, my total weight loss for the competition was 7.6 lbs and that's a 5% loss.  If you want a photo I can get you one, but I forgot to take it before I ate and drank this morning and I gained 1 full pound!

We're you planning to post the Picts of everyone's feet?  Since I'm not going to win I wasn't sure if it really mattered.

Thanks for coordinating this, it's been fun and a good motivation.  Enjoy your Red Robin tonight!  Gina
GLORIA---I started the competition at 135 and ended at 126.  That is 9 lbs. lost for a percentage of 6.67%.  I know I have lost inches, but I don't know how many or where because we are not doing our measurements for our Insanity workout till Sunday.   My biggest take-away from all of this is a lifestyle change of exercising and eating healthy as a habit and not just for a season to lose weight.
LINDSAY--- I know this is early, but no school tomorrow means I will forget.  So here it is.  Thank you again for this great idea. I really have enjoyed it.  It is nice to not feel so alone in our efforts.  I have learned a lot from everyone.  Round two?  I still have 10 more to go!
Lindsay final:  6.57% loss overall and .91% for the final week.  11.5 lbs down.
NAOMI--- I started the competition at 167.8 and now rest happily at 147.0 That is a 12.4% loss for the eight weeks. and 20lbs down. I also found out that I am down 7 inches in the hips and 4 in the waist and a whole lot of other great stuff!

Winners!!!

In my book we are ALL winners! We have all worked so hard and done so much. I am still waiting on two ladies to post but for the top three here you go....

Naoim 12.4%
Callie  12.23%
Chantrie 11. 72%

Please chck back for a cool post tomorrow!

Karin- week 7

Well as you can tell, I totally forgot to post on Friday...so sorry.  For me this week it's a 0% loss.  It's been really hard.  I am LOVING the free Zumba class that is going on in my ward thanks to Elaine and Naomi for getting it together.  I will be working this week and will miss the class 3 times.  Sad day.  I also found out that I will be needing surgery next month on my right hand first and when that has healed, I will be getting the left hand done...carpal tunnel.  I am in a lot of pain.  The steroids aren't helping much.  And we all know what happens when you take steroids...and my monthly will be showing up this week as well...so I can just plan on gaining during the last week of this competition.  Oh we'll.  I would like to do another competition but I am not sure when I will be able to join in again.  Proud of all you Ladies for all your hard work.  You are truly an inspiration to me.

Saturday, October 13, 2012

So this week I have held steady, no loss, no gain. Thats still a 5.2% overall. I havent been working out as much, life has been keeping me busy. I am really proud of all of us for the hard work in getting healthier. Cant wait to see everyones totals for th competition.

Where is everyone?

last week before final weigh in.....uuuggghhhh!

This past week was one of my best weeks ever! I worked out every day really hard and it felt good, I ate well every day and I felt good, I weighed myself on Wed. and felt good.....Then, I started my period and felt not good then, I weighed myself today and felt NOT good. On Wedensday morning I was down 3.5lbs and I figured I still had two whole days to drop another lb. or so. Well this afternoon I weighed in at 152.3 which is still down for the week but not as much as I had hoped due to my dumb monthly. ggrrrrrr.

Weekly 1.1%
Total 9.24%

I am excited for this next Friday. I have my final assessment for the competition that I was involved in at the gym. I was a fitness competition now a weight one. They check things like body fat, strength, resting heart rate and a few more of those good things and I am almost looking forward to that more than this one to see things like inches lost, and strength gain. I doubt I will win but I do hope to see some major improvements.

You ladies have all done awesome! I dont plan on ending this weight loss goal of mine at the end of the competition (I do plan on taking the weekend off tho) I want to continue until I hit my total weight goal and then I want to keep it up after that just to keep healthy. I can leave this blog open after the competition if you would like or we can start a new competition in a few weeks if you would like too. Maybe do a couples competition or something or keep it just us ladies. Let me know what you all think!

BTW I found a little tip, I know I need this one since I lost a little weight. If you use lemon essential oil with a little carrier oil daily and rub it into the belly, thighs and hips it will help boost your metabolism AND tighten the looser skin that we all now have due to our weight loss. The trainer at the gym told me it could take up to a year to tighten the baby belly back up but with lemon oil it should be a whole lot faster.

second to last week for Dilone

This competition has been a great jump start for my new healthy lifestyle.  By some crazy orchestration I am holding steady at my current weight.  Today I went and spent some of my birthday money on some new clothes.  The pants I purchased were either one or two sizes smaller than the ones I have been wearing all summer!  That is a great feeling.  0% loss for the week. 3.25% for the contest.

Lindsay-60's are hear to stay!!!

I just stepped off the scale at 4:00pm.  I weigh in at 165 even.  The good news is that it is official.  Sometimes if you weigh in the morning by nightfall you are several pounds heavier.  I wanted to make sure that those allusive 60's were legit.  AND THEY ARE!!  So my percentage has not changed at all from last week.  5.7% overall 0% this week.  I am enjoying a day of some carb loading for the half marathon tomorrow.(And it tastes so good, but now as it sits in my belly it kinda hurts)  It should be a pretty but nippy run/walk.  It was a balmy 36 degrees today...ALL DAY.  It will be gorgeous scenery and fun since I'll be doing it with a good friend.  We are going to be ZOMBIE COOKS.  We serve brains daily!  I'll post pictures on next weeks post.  It's called the Zombie Half Marathon.

So I am officially in the mid 60's.  I fully expect the next jump to be a hard one again.  I am totally excited for what comes next.  Regardless of the competition at this point, I have gained control of my eating.  I am excercising daily.  I feel healthier than I have for at least 5 years.  I am so excited.  AND-my hubby who has gained 20 pounds since moving to Alaska is now down 9 pounds just by eating right with me.  However, he doesn't have to exercise too.  I do!  And that's all we'll say about that.  It makes me a bit crazy.  But we both have 10 more pounds to go before we will be satistfied.  So this competition is not up for me yet.  I will continue until I am at my goal.  I hope the rest of you will also.

Week 7 - Chantrie

Thank goodness we almost done.  I have worked my tail off this week and I am tired!  My body feels stronger; it is leaner and more toned.  No matter who wins I am impressed with all the hard work we have done.
Down to 157.6
Weekly - 1.38%
Total - 9.43%
I was kind of hoping to make it to 10%  this week but there was not anything else I could have done that was healthy and legal to lose weight.  So with that said I am giving this week's effort my stamp of approval.

Kim

This week I lost the 2 pounds that I gained back last week, plus I lost 1 more. So my week loss is 2% and my grand total for the competition is 2.65%.

Callie

I'm updating from my husband's phone so I hope it comes out all right. I lost 4.2 lbs this week which is 2.36%. Total for the comp is 8.44% and 16 lbs.

Gloria - 7th weigh-in

I lost 0 pounds this week, so I'm still at 127.  But that 5.93% overall and considering the temptations and other factors this week, I'm happy with that!!

Karen L. Week 6

So... I have been M.I.A. the past few weeks.  I ended up with a really nasty cold that had me completely wiped out for 2 straight weeks.  All I wanted to do was sleep!  Which I did do a lot of...  I couldn't work out at all, and I didn't feel like eating many days.  You would think that the weight would just fall right off.  Well, no such luck!  I have gained and lost the same 3 pounds this entire 6 weeks.  Today I am still down 3 pounds from week 1 which is still 1.99%.  I am frustrated, because in my mind I feel completely motivated to be good and eat healthy, but I have too many weak moments.  I need to still get my head wrapped around the lifestyle change and not look at it as a diet.  That only makes me think about food more.  I am hoping these next two weeks will be better and getting back to working out will help with my mindset.

Gina week 6

This week I lost 1.8 lbs for 1.22%. My total percent in the lat 6 weeks is 4.47%.

Week 6 for Dilone

Well if it wasn't for a great husband and very motivational friend, I may have quit yesterday.  Was feeling in the dumps about my weight loss.  Again this week I lost 0 lbs.  I am amazed at how one can do everything she can and nothing happens.  Well My husband said that that was not true and that my arms and waist are slimmer and are tightening up.  Sometimes I think the saying muscle weighs more than fat is just there to make us feel better.  Even so I am using it!  Holding steady at a 3.25% total but living a much healthier life and other than yesterday I feel great!
I am finally starting to FEEL the difference in my body. Its hard to SEE the fat melt, but my pants feel looser, my shirt sleeves are looser, my hubby and friends can tell the difference in my body also. I struggle with deciding how I want to eat. I havent found a healthy balance for me. I try different eating styles and have found what doesnt work, or what does work but I cant stand it long term. I cant eat like a bodybuilder anymore, but I cant eat how I would like to either. I love to cook! Its so hard to not make all my favorite foods for the family.I like to exercise but the eating has been a problem and it didnt use to be. I am frustrated with the whole food issue. That being said, I am down to 142.2, I have lost 2.2# which is 2.87% for the week and 5.2% overall. I like everyones suggestions and support. Rest is crucial, as is balance and moderation in all things. Thanks ladies for the inspiration. I am proud of all of you, no matter what, for sticking it out. Hugggs to all
Cendy

Almost there!

I lost 2.2 lbs this week for a 1.14% total for the week. That brings me to an overall total of 7.23%. I'm gonna work hard these last 2 weeks to try to win this thing. Win or not, we've all done great! Good job ladies! Hang in there! 2 weeks left!! :)

PLEASE READ!!

LADIES, I KNOW HOW EXCITING IT IS TO BE WHERE WE ARE AT! I JUST WANT TO REMIND EVERYONE THAT WITH ONLY TWO WEEKS LEFT AND THE DESIRE TO WIN THE COMPETITION CREEPS UP ON US JUST TO KEEP IT HEALTY. PLEASE KEEP STRONG AND DON'T BE TEMPTED TO TRY SOME FAD DIET THAT PROMISES US TO DROP A POUND A DAY. IT IS NOT FAIR TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE WORKED SO HARD TO LOSE WEIGHT BY CHANGING THIER HABITS AND EATING BETTER, TO BE PUSHED OUT BY SOMEONE WHO DECIDES TO TRY SOMETHING THAT IS ONLY A WEEKLY TEMPORARY FIX. I HOPE AND PRAY THAT YOU ALL HAVE BEEN INSPIRED TO MAKE CHANGES PERMANETLY FOR THE BETTER, NOT JUST FOR A TEMPORARY TIME. THAT IS WHAT I WANTED THIS WHOLE COMPETITION TO BE ABOUT, CHANGING FOR THE BETTER AND GETTING THE SUPPORT TO DO SO FROM OTHERS. WE HAVE TWO MORE WEEKS LEFT! THIS IS SO EXCITING! I AM SO PROUD OF ALL OF YOU FOR WORKING HARD AND DECIDING TO CHANGE. THIS COMPETITION HAS ACTUALLY EVEN INSPIRED TWO OF MY BROTHERS TO LOSE WEIGHT AS WELL AND I KNOW A FEW OF OUR HUSBANDS HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN RIGHT THERE BESIDE US TRYING TO MAKE THOSE CHANGES WITH US.
WE CAN DO THIS!
THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING ALONG ON THIS JOURNEY WITH ME AND SUPPORTING ME.

Woowee! Week 6 is OVER!

It has been a pretty busy week for me! BUT despite that, I am down. Percentage for the week is 1.4% and for the whole competition is 7.38! I have lost 13lbs. since the competition started which happens to be pretty good for me. Although I have lost the weight thats not what is so cool, its the fact that I look thinner (at least the hubby thinks so) Someone at church came up to me this past Sunday and said she could tell that I had lost weight. Thats huge. How often do we see the lbs. drop but cant tell? I never can, I just see all the stuff that still jiggles when I walk and sometimes we just need to hear that we look better even if we can feel the results of working out we just dont see it. Lindsay thanks for the post about body image I think its really important to see ourselves in a different light. I keep trying to focus on the fact that I feel better, am eating healthier and have changed my lifestyle habits so that I dont return to where I was at six weeks ago. KEEP IT UP!! We have got this.

amber week six

hi everyone i have been absent from the blog for a few weeks sorry about that but i have been letting naomi know percent lost which is a big fat 0. last week i went to sandiego and gained 5 pounds but this week i have been really good and lost eight. soo this week i actually lost five pound and am back down to 165 next week i will continue doing great and hopefully lose some more. you all seem to be doing great keep it up

Lindsay Checking in...

This week has been much easier.  It is amazing to me how a change in perspective can open up a whole new world.  I focused on getting stronger and pushing myself mentally this week.  I feel so refreshed.  I think physically my body was begging for rest.  I feel that moderation in everything is key.  I am trying to focus my thoughts, my body and my actions to health and well-being.

This week I am at 165! (2.37%)  Seriously, those sixties have alluded me for EVER!  Amazingly, with less intense working out and more rest I caught them.  My overall percentage to date is  5.7%.  I am so thrilled about the lesson I learned to listen to my body and find balance.  Sometimes constant pushing just stresses your body more so it is unable to rid itself and rebuild.

Now when I say rest, I don't mean do nothing.  It just means instead of an intense INSANITY or P90X video and a jog, I will just do the jog or even walk.  This gives your body a bit of a rest to catch up and rebuild inside.  (This is just my thoughts.) I don't have any research, but it has made a big difference for me.

Lets hope we can keep this up and find balance in everything we do.  Loved this blog post and wanted to share it with you.  I think she has some wonderful advice for all about body image.

Hope you all have a great week!

Kim

This week I got to have my "monthly visitor" and had a very hard time controlling what I ate, especially in the sugar(chocolate) department! So anyway I gained 2 of the 3 pounds I have lost back. So that puts me at 0% for this week and .66% for the whole competition. I am determined to at least finish the competition off good. So hopefully I will have more control these last 2 weeks! I am so happy for everyone else, you ladies rock, good job!

Callie

Oh man, this week has been hard. I must have hit a tough patch cause I am having such a hard time losing weight. Nothing seems to work anymore. I lost 1.8 lbs this week which is 1% and a total of 11.8 lbs and 6.22%. Can't wait till it's the last day to see how everyone did :) This has been really fun! It seems I have muscles in places I forgot muscles were supposed to be. I have so much more endurance than I ever had since high school like Chantrie said. I feel so good! I am almost down 2 pant sizes, I say almost cause I can get them on but they're skin tight lol. Since the beginning of the year, I'm down a total of 21.8 lbs and 10.65%.

Karin-wk 6

This week was great!!!   Still working on my diet...it's a work in progress.  What I think helped a lot was the Zumba class that is offered for free at the church!  Heading there again this morning.  So my numbers for today are... 2.9lbs lost for a % of 1.03%!!!!!   My total for the challenge is 2.03%!!!   Super excited for that!  Everyone is doing great!  I love that we have to be accountable here.  I kinda wish it was a longer time as I have mush more to lose.  I neeeeeeed to get past 274lbs... I keep gaining and losing the same 10-15lbs and if I can get below 274 then I can continue this difficult journey.  I agree with Chantrie...thanks so much Naomi for setting up this challenge, I am beginning to feel better physically about myself.  I even jogged across the field one day this week when I was running late to pick up my son form preschool...and was able to catch my breath quicker than in the past.

chantrie week 6

Yeah!!! I finally broke into the 150's.  I am so excited!  Only 2 more weeks.  I posted on facebook this week that I cannot believe how much better in shape I am than I was 8 weeks ago.  I ran Wednesday.  I went 4.5 miles and at the end I was able to run all the way up the dreaded hill to get to my house.  That is the  1st time I have been able to do that.  I can run longer and harder than I have been able to since highschool maybe ever.  It feels good to be able to gain mastery over your body.
Results for the week:  1.24%
Total:  8.39%
Thank you Naomi more setting this up and keeping me motivated.

Gloria - 6th weigh-in

Still plugging along here.  This week was a little easier as I got used to my harder workouts that come with month 2 of Insanity.  Last night in my workout I did 8 straight push-ups, that's a record for me.  Obviously my arms are not super strong, right?  I also discovered the awesome app FitnessPal and it's been cool to track what I eat and see where I could do better.  I definitely need to cut down on my sugar....did you know one little yogurt thing has 24g of sugar???  Wow!

Anyway - I lost 0.5 lbs this week, which is 0.39%.  Overall I have lost 8 pounds, which is 5.93%.

Keep going ladies, we're all making changes that are better for us, no matter how much the scale moves!

For the final week I also would love for us to post the actual amount of lbs we each have lost for the whole 8 weeks so I can add it up and post it for a final accounting.  As for the weekly prize winners.

Karin- week 5

This week has been really stressful and good but not so good.  Anything I say is just an excuse so here it is...I lost 0.2lbs.  It's still a loss.  My percentage is 0.07%.  My total for the challange is 2.9lbs lost and 1.02%.  I have decided that my body just likes to do things slowly.  It is frusterating because I want it all off NOW...but that is not what is going to happen.  As long as I am losing  I am winning...Right?  Good job ladies for all your hard work!

Lindsay Week 5

WOW is is already week 5?  So this journey has been a hard one for me.  I find it so easy to get frusterated over the number game.  I find myself angry that the pounds aren't coming off; especially when I am working SOOO hard.  I have severly limited my sugar intake (reading labels like a hawk and realizing that I am an addict) and excercising hard 4-6 times a week for over 30 minutes.  I am drinking TONS of water (peeing like a race horse).  I am crabby (due to lack of sugar).  I am sleeping well (Im exhausted).  So why won't the pounds come off?  I did some research....I realized that I could possibly be short on Vitamin D.  We have been in Alaska since December and I have not taken Vitamin D regularly...ever.  I have to admit.  In less than a week.  I FEEL better.  We do not get much sunlight here even during the summer.  And this morning this is what the hillside next to our valley looks like.  (And tonight as I type...it is snowing.)

Photo: And this is how winter becomes apparent...it's creeping down the mountain, OUR MOUNTAIN.

So back to the numbers game.  I have finally (after a few hard weeks of discoragement) come to the conclusion:
It is how I FEEL and not how much I weigh that matters.

It is hard to overlook the numbers.  I feel frusterated by it continually.  I think I forever will be.  But I FEEL better.  I FEEL stronger.  I FEEL more comfortable in my clothes.  I think I may even FEEL a bicep muscle on my arms?  I can do more laps of stairs.  I can run longer.  I can do more pushups.  I can say in plank longer.  I FEEL healthy.  Some say the numbers don't lie...well, sometimes they do.  It is a matter of perspective.  That being said...I signed up for a half marathon on the 13th.  Because yes, I FEEL that good.  I know I can complete it respectfully (Not a runner like my brother Jeff...I said respectfully not exceptionally).  So I hope others are noticing the good changes in themselves and trying hard to not let the numbers discourage you.  Keep up the good work. Celebrate the little miracles.   My stats:  This week:1.17%  Total: 3.43%

Dilone's 5th week

I have had a really great week.  My muscles are slightly burnin', I'm walking taller, my pants are a little looser.  I'm feeling great!  So I shouldn't let the fact that I gained 4 ounces get me down.  Ya know water retention and building muscle and all that. I started a 10 day herbal cleanse on Monday and it has really helped with eating.  It has a strictish meal plan but it has gone really well.  I haven't had any really strong cravings or really been starving.  Usually when I just go cold turkey I cave.
My weight training sessions have been awesome.  I love Fridays.  Glutes and Hamstring day.  Sundays I'm hurtin' good!  But I can't give up on the great booty genes my daddy gave me! Total loss is 3.25
Nice work this week ladies!

Dilone

Callie

It seemed like there were a lot of temptations this week; pizza at Kim's, Sunday dinner, breakfast with my grandma, pizza date night... what else?! But I managed to get down to 179.4, YEAH! I crossed the thresh-hold. Down 10 total pounds, 2.2 pounds this week. So that makes it 1.21% for this week and 5.28% total. Doesn't it feel good to lose weight ladies? It's so hard! Some of you are doing really great! What is the key? I need to know! :)

Kim

This week was pretty good. I only lost one pound but have been working out good. So my weekly loss is .67% and my overall is 1.99%. I started running again and have been working out on my elliptical stepper and it feels so good to be back to exercising again! I pretty much took the whole summer off, but now remember how good I feel when I do workout! Gloria I just read you blog post this morning it is so true how much better you feel when exercising! Naomi I think that is a good idea for the last weigh in to email it to you and I am fine with the picture thing too!

Week 5-Gina

This week I only lost .8 lbs for a .54% loss. I wish it was more, I have been eating pretty well and working out, but I think this is just my body's pattern. I lose a lot one week, and not so much the next week.  It is strange because I do the same things in those weeks. Oh well, at least it's coming off.   My total % for the whole 5 weeks is 3.29%

Gloria - 5th weigh-in

I can't believe it's been 5 weeks already!  Time flies, huh?

This week I lost 2 pounds, for a total of 1.54%!!  I am down to 127.5, which is a total of 7.5 pounds or 5.56%!!!  Figuring I've probably gained some weight in muscle, I'm happy with that number.  I told myself if I could get down to 125, I'd be very happy.  And the more important number, my body fat percentage, has gone down, so I try to not put too much stock in the number on the scale.

I am still working out doing Insanity 6 days a week and trying to eat better foods and definitely eating less of what I do eat.  This last week with my period was hard to control the sweet cravings, but now that that's over, it should be better!  The hardest part is eating good when we go out to eat or go to someone's house for dinner.  If you guys have any tips on how to control eating in those situations, I'd love to hear them!

week5 - chantrie

Ok ladies.  I could really use some encouragement.  This week I hit a wall.  I worked hard and ate right and then I hit Wednesday and I simply couldn't work out.  So I ate right but didn't work out Wednesday or Thursday.  I can't seem to break out of the sixties.  Yesterday I saw 160.8 less than one lb but it is hanging on there digging in with tooth and nail.  I know we only have three more weeks but those 21 days seem like an eternity.  Ok.  I know enough of the whining.  I have lost a lot of weight.  I look and feel great.
Weigh in this morning 161.4  Percentage for the week .37%  Total 7.24%
Wow!  Looking at my total makes me feel pretty good.  Push along ladies.  Push along.  What is the total for all of us?
Wahoo! finally seeing some "small but at least theyre losses" changes. I am down to 144.6, which got rid of what I gained last week and then some. My total is 1.23% this week and 3.6%overall. Been eating very healthy. I gave up my coke before but jumped right back on that wagon. Jumped off this week and have been 5 days without a coke. that may not seem like much for some of you, but that is huge for me. The mood swings this week were horrible-no sugar at all, no coca cola, no refined starches. Monday I was grumpy, Tuesday I hated the world and had to lock myself in at home so I wouldnt offend or kill someone, Wednesday I could almost be civil to people, thursday my husband brought a cold home from work to share, Today might be ok. I made it throught the week without ripping someones head off, and lost weight. I hope your week has been good for all of you.

Change for final week and a question

A few of you ladies have requested that for the final weigh in you all email me instead of posting with your final % just so that there aren't any who are tempted to add on a few points to win the pot. I agree with this, Soooo for the final weigh in on October 19th please email me and don't post that day. It was also suggested that we each send a photo of our feet on the scale with our final weight. I think this would be fun to see. What do you ladies think. I think it is a perfect idea. Let me know.

Ginger's week 4

Soo sorry this is late. I was in Little Rock the past 2 days. I lost almost 3 lbs this week. so I'm down to 192.2 which was a total of 1.44% for the week and a TOTAL of 6.13%    Good job ladies. We don't have much longer! We can do this!

Lindsay week 4

Up 1.5 lbs!  Grrrr!  It has been one long hard week and so be it.  Hopefully better next week.
Cendy- week 4. Oh boy, Im stuck. I was holding steady until today. I gained 1.4 lbs, weighing in at 146.4. Thats still a 3.33 weight loss and a gain, dont know how to figure that in.  Hmmmm...........Could it be the Red Lobster All you can eat shrimp last night??? Probably. I just didnt seem to have any motivation this week, I have some injuries that just seem to keep bugging me. I worked out with Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. Love her! Going through my 20+ workout videos, using my favs to kill boredom. So the goal for next week is watch my intake more closely, and do some workout every day. I know I am stronger and tougher than my weight, just have to push through the tough stuff. Thanks everyone for the encouragement. it is so awesome to see everyones progress.

Kim

I had a 0% loss this week so my overall is still the same at 1.32%. I didn't eat very healthy but I was pretty active with bike rides, walks and painting my house. Also even though I didn't eat very good I did make a healthier choice and I didn't drink any soda or any caffeine. I am addicted to diet coke and I didn't have any this last week but did have one at lunch today. I just haven't been very motivated with my eating! But starting Monday I am recommitting myself and I will loose some pounds, LOL!!! Happy for everyone else and it has made me more motivated reading all your guys success!

4th Week for Dilone

I had five very excellent workouts this week! However, I am very stunned, I had a zero loss this week.  I started today with a food journal to start keeping track of my calories. Even though I eat every 2-3 hours I may be eating too much or not enough.  Total loss is 3.25%.

Dilone

Naomi's Half-way check in!

Woooohooo Ladies what success we have had! I am so proud of you all for working hard to healthfully lose weight, make healthy life style changes and look at life so positively. Thank you for all the support not only for me but for each other. It is neat to say we can lose weight without any of those fad kinda diets but just by making better choices for ourselves and our families.
This week was a good one for me. I lost 4lbs. this weeks % is 1.98% and for the overall competition I have 5.36%. BUT.....what is awesome for me is this, I have been doing a 60 day fitness challenge at the gym I go to. On Wed. they did our half way 30 day evaluation. I have improved on my strength and cardio respritory whatever by 40%, I have dropped 9lbs. total and my body fat% is down by quite a bit!!! The fitness part of this is almost as exciting if not more so than the weight loss. My main goal has been to get healthier, tighten up (a lot!) and be able to have more energy and I have seen some great results. The guy that is in charge of my weekly class says I really probably have lost more like 15lbs but because I am gaining muscle it only shows a smaller weight loss. I hope you all are having this kind of success. I hope that we all see these type of results. You all are working so hard and I love it! Keep up the great work ladies. In four more weeks we will all be able to celebrate accomplishing our goals.

Karin- Week 4

This was a better week.  I lost 4.2lbs (almost what I gained last week)  So my percentage for the week is 1.46%.  My total is 2.7lbs and 0.95%.  I know...pathetic.

Goals for this week are to do a Shakeology Cleanse.  And workout to Hip Hop Abs every day and maybe throw in a Turbo Fire workout or two.  Use myfitnesspal to calculate my calories in and calories out.  I know I can do better!  Time to really buckle down!

Gina week 4

I'm super excited about this week!  Afterlasts light gain last week, I can now finally say that I am well past my plateau!  This week I lost 3 lbs for 1.99%!  My total loss for this competition is 2.76%.

I'm super excited because, since I started eating right, I've lost over 8 lbs!  I lost some of it before the competition, so it doesn't all count on this, but it still feels good to say that I've lost 5.26% since the kids started school!  Another 8 lbs and I will have finally lost all the weight from my last pregnancy (over 3 years ago). That is a good feeling!

Chantrie Week 4

I ate right and exercised everyday, even though I had to take it a little easy on Monday and Tuesday after twisting my ankle on Saturday.  At the beginning of the week I wasn't dropping at all and I was beginning to wonder if I was plateauing.  But it started to drop here at the end of the week.  Total percentage is 6.84%.  This weeks percentage 1.76%  Much better than last week.  We are half way there.  Keep it up.

Another one- Callie

This week was pretty good. I actually worked out most of the week. I did splurge on a triple date at the melting pot, but I was happy to lose a little weight. I lost 3 pounds this week. So I'm down to 181.6 which is 1.63% for this week. A total of 7.8 pounds and 4.12%.

Gloria - 4th weigh-in

I am so mad at myself, I gained this week.  Whomp, whomp.  :(. I kind of figured I wouldn't lose weight this week because I'm about to get my period so I'm super hungry all the time and this is our recovery week for our workouts, so lower-intensity.  And I hate how bloated I am.  It sucks that the week I am most volatile emotionally is also the week that I'm all fat and bloated and hungry all the time - not a good combination.

So I'm at 129.5 right now, with a 0% weight loss this week and a 4.07% weight loss overall.  I sure hope next week is better.

Karen Labrum - Week 3

Sorry, I am a late poster (once again)....  This week has been a week full of "events".  I had several meals that I had to attend that weren't exactly a great selection of healthy choices...  With that being said.... I was able to maintain  my weight.  I am still down three pounds since week 1, which gives me a total weight loss percentage of 1.99.  Not great, but at least it's going in the right direction.  I did a "Butts & Guts" class this week at my gym and loved it!!  My abs and rear end are still very sore which is great!  I love it when I feel like I got a good workout.  Also, after having to watch myself in a mirror during the entire workout (yikes) It is a huge motivation to get back to the gym.  My goal is to kick the workouts up a notch this week and hopefully not have to attend any more "events".

Here's to week 4!!

Lindsay Week 3

I am down to the 160's....just barely!  I know this may sound silly, but it has been over 6 years!  I am so happy.  I am at 168.5 so only 1.5 lbs lost this week.  I can't complain.  I lost none last week.  This plateau has been my nemisis.  So my total percentage lost to date is 3.71%.  This week it is only .88%.  Trying to lose weight becomes very stressful when you don't see the pound come off ESPECIALLY when you are working so hard.  I am at this point right now.  So instead of getting angry I am going to focus on the good things that have happened this week.

Highlights:  1.  I have done 4 workouts this week.  2.  I have picked my first batches of wild Alaskan blueberries (and did NOT get eaten by any bears).  3.  I have eaten well and consumed more water!  (Thank you Cendy!)  4.  I have used a chainsaw and cut wood, loaded it and brought it home for the winter (with my girlfriend-no men involved-what a workout!).  5. I am now fitting in to size 12 jeans with ease...may not be a big deal for some, but a great one for me.  6.  AND I am wearing a size medium shirt tonight on a date with the hubs!!!!  These are the small miracles in my journey to healthy and fit.  Like Naomi posted...I am seeing myself get stronger.  I am seeing my body transform.  It is amazing what our bodies can do.  We are very blessed with amazing bodies!  I think it makes it that much MORE important for us to take care of them.  I am so proud of all of you.  Keep up the good work.

Just thought I would throw in some motivation!
RA RA WE CAN DO IT!

Gina Weigh in

Sorry this is so late, but its still technically Friday.  I had a rough week with loosing.  I totally over ate on saturday for our aniversary, but did really well all week long.  I feel like I've hit a plateau because I'm stuck right around 150.  Today it was officially 150.8.  thats a gain of 1.2 lbs.

Dilone's Check-in!

This week has gone really well!   Been busy and stressed as always but fit in great workouts, even when I went swimming with my boys.  Ate pretty decently.  I had a 2.28% loss for the week.  Down to 214.6 lbs.  A total of 3.25% loss.
Good luck this week everybody!

Dilone

Ginger's weigh in

Hi ladies! Ok I stayed the same this week. so 0% loss for me this week but still at 4.79% total loss. It's fair week here and my little guys 3rd birthday so it's been fun and crazy!! He won the pageant in his little division last night. I'm a proud Mama of such a handsome guy. Ok I'll stop. This is suppose to be about weight loss and not bragging Mom time. heehee   Keep it up ladies! We can do this! Just about a month to go!!  :)
Hello, Ladies. I lost 1 lb this week, making that a .68% for this week and a 3.33% overall. I did not exercise much this week.I have a nasty tooth ache and every little jump or run kills me but I have a dentist appt next week. And to answer the question for a lot of you, YES the visit of Aunt Flo does mess up the weight. So dont panic, next week will be better. I have noticed that drinking water really ramps up weight loss, it has worked for me in the past and I notice a difference when I dont drink a lot of water to help flush out toxins and fat. So the goal for next week is more water and exercise once a day.

Karin- Week 3

Blah. This week was a tough one. Yes it is the week of my visitor, I have a sinus infection and the meds make me hungry and constipated (TMI, I know. but that is another reason for my gain this week). Can't exercise without coughing up a lung so of course I didn't. And to be quite frank, I just didn't even think about losing weight and making better food choices. I just ate what I wanted. So I gained 4.6lbs this week. More than I have lost. Pretty ashamed about that. I will be doing better on the eating part this next week...and try to get in a few workouts as I start to feel better.

Kim

I didn't loose any weight this last week, I just stayed the same. I didn't eat very good but I did work out a few times. So 0% for this week and a grand total of 1.32%.

chantrie 3

Food wise I did pretty good this week.  but I only worked out once.  it was just a crazy busy week with laundry after camping, 3 boxes of peaches to take care of, and a sick baby.  I was just too tired.  Excuses, excuses. . . blah blah blah.  Any way I am down to 165 a number I haven't seen in a while.  A total of 5.17% overall weightloss  but only .72% for the week.  I will do better!

Weekly posting

Ladies, PLEASE remember to post % each week. The % should be posted as a weekly % and an overall %. Thanks!

Naomi week 3

Well, did pretty good this week and hoping for better results next week. Does anyone other than me gain a few pounds while aunt flo is visiting? I feel a little stronger and tighter from working out every day tho so even if the scale doesn't show too much weight loss I feel better. I am at 0.49% this week, and 3.23% overall.

Callie Weigh-In

This week I actually put in an effort to lose some weight and worked out a couple days. I'm down 1.4lbs this week which is .75% and a total of 4.8lbs which is 2.53%.

Gloria - 3rd weigh-in

I didn't do so good this week with food, I ate out more and snacked on bad things more.  But I worked out 6 days and tried to give it my all, despite a sore ankle.

I lost 1.5 lbs this week for a percentage of 1.15% this week.  Overall I have lost 6 pounds, for a total percentage of 4.44%!

Keep it up ladies!

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

I was thinking over last weeks results and how most of us had a difficult week. I thought I'd post a few tips that I've learned. As a Scentsy consultant, smells are my business so I have studied the effect of scent in our lives. Did you know that peppermint/mint/cinnamon are scents that can diminish cravings in your body? So if you use these scents in your home you can help quell your cravings.Cinnamon is used in smoking cessation classes, where the people are told to chew cinnamon gum or use cinnamon mouthwash when craving the cigarettes. I keep a good supply (actually i should buy stock in the company) of sugar free fire hot cinnamon gum and peppermint in my house, van, car and purse. If a craving strikes, I chew gum. Just a few tiny calories too. Also, Jillian and Bob from the real Biggest Loser, suggested chewing sugar fee gum when youre cooking in the kitchen. If you are chewing gum, there is less temptation to sample all the food. I mean, really, who wants spaghetti sauce gum in their mouth? These are things I use to help me, and I can use all the help I can get. Ok, well gotta go put cinnamon bear in my scentsy warmer cause I am craving junk. Have a great day everyone, and heres to a better healthy week for us all.

Karen Labrum Week 2

0% loss this week...but at least it is not a gain.  I feel okay with this because perhaps that means I will maintain here also.  I worked out a lot more, but did not stick to a strict diet.  Here's to another week.  And sorry for being late.  I'll be on time next week.

Week 2 Down!

Hello ladies! I stayed at exactly 195.0 so no weight loss for me this week. This is to a better week! I just got done running a 5k. My best time ever so I'm pretty proud!  :)
Hey so sorry I completely forgot to post weight loss or in my case gain. As of yesterday morning I weigh 165. So this past week I gained 1lb. However I am guilty of taking the week off. I didn't exercise or eat well. Next week I start again tho.

Lindsay week 2

LAME LAME LAME!  That is what this week is.  I will be reporting a whopping 0 lb loss!  Seriously,  periods stink!  I don't know about the rest of you, but I totally have a 5 lb swing with it.  I hate it.  I have even eaten WAY better this week than last AND I have worked out 6x's since last Friday!  I only took Sunday off!  So lets just say I am feeling a bit discouraged about this.  I purposely tried to stay off the scale because I knew I would be discouraged.  Yep, I was right.  So here's to another week.  I think like someone else said...I need to drink more water...lots more water.  So thank you for that tip.  I will not let this get me down...here's to a new week!

I like the positives that someone else...Karin said.  This week did have a really good positive for me also.  I have struggled with some health concerns and I got good results.  So in the end...health is what we are after.  Yes, weight is a part of that, but health is the goal.  If it seems like I am trying to convince myself of this...yes I am.

AND--we have snow on our mountains here in Alaska.  I love winter, but I'm not quite ready for it yet.  Maybe it is just a fluke?!?  Hopefully.

I am so impressed with all of you.  Naomi, thank you for this wonderful idea and the organizing of it.  Yeah!!!!

Dilone's 2nd week

Well I gained a pound over the long weekend, but was able to shed that and another.  Brings me to 219.6 lbs. and a 0.99% loss for the week. The new gym membership has helped a lot and I plan on doing even better this week!

Callie 2nd week weigh in

I did horrible this week! I found it really hard to eat healthy, plus I was starving all week! Pizza, 2 dates, 2 extended family get togethers. Enough for the excuses! I WILL do better next week, and I expect you ladies to hold me up to that promise :). 2 things that I will work on for next week is no desserts and to exercise at least 3 times next week. I'm still working on building up those muscles, so my exercises are just walks. So, my weight lose this week was 0lbs. I was happy to get on the scale this week and see that I was still exactly what I was at last weight in. Still 3.5lbs down and 1.8% total.
Ok, I have had a hard time this week. I have lost 0 lbs, which of course is 0% :) I have gained muscle, though, so that is part of it. I seem to do really well with eating during the week when its just me home during the day. It is harder when I eat with my family and cook for them on the weekends. I have an injured arm so I hardly worked out, and when I did work out lower body, I way overworked. I had sore muscles so bad that I couldnt sit down on the toilet without practicallly crying. Note to self :slow and steady wins the race, not crazy psycho workouts. Eating is not my biggest problem, I just cant cheat all weekend and be good all week. I have found that as I have gotten older, I have to work out twice as hard to accomplish the same result, I think due to slower metabolism. I live on a farm, so I am constantly lifting and moving weights, like bales of hay, horse saddles, buckets of feed and water, and of course pooper scooping. My friends tease me cause I have "farmer arms" bulky strong arms from working. My lower half is where I carry a large part of my weight so for the coming weeks, and while my arm recovers, I will be focusing on strength and cardio with legs and lower body. I didnt drink as much water, so I didnt have to visit every restromm in a 50 mile radius, but I really think the water played a huge part in getting toxins and fat flushed out, so back to my 1 1/2 gallons per day goal.

Kim

Hello! I did a little better this week. I lost 2 lbs which is a total of 1.32% weight loss. This is my total so far since I didn't loose anything the 1st week. I only worked out 2 times, but did a lot of organizing stuff around my house a lot of it was running up and down the stairs several time each day and lifting and carrying very heavy boxes. I have also been cutting down on my portions and cutting out a lot of the sugar.

Gina- week 2

I'm feeling much better about my weigh in this week.  After last week I learned that I cannot completely splurge all weekend and then expect to loose it through the week.  This week I tried to stay within my calories on saturday, sunday and monday.  Even with the holiday bbq's and parties I tried to be aware of each thing that was going into my mouth.  I had a few treats, and even worked out on Saturday (unheard of) so that I could afford to splurge a little.  It payed off!  This week I met my goal and got into the 140's!  I lost 2.6 lbs which puts me at 1.71%.  Since I didn't loose any last week, that's my total for the entire competition.  For the first time in my life I feel like I have some control over my weight and I'm learning how to adjust my eating and work out habits to change my body.  That's a great feeling!

Week 2- Karin

WOW!!!!
that is all I can say.
I didn't think that I would lose anything this week...
I was planning on seeing a gain
But that is NOT what I saw...
I lost 2.2lbs
for a week loss of .77%
and 1.09% over all.

With all that has been going on in the last 2 weeks, I am glad that I haven't turned to food AS much as I normally would have.
Some of the CRAZY happenings of last week were
1. someone stole our meter-no power for over 12 hours and an investigation...the guy who stole it lives in our building. If anyone was thinking of trying this, just so you know it's a $2,000 fine with Xcel and criminal charges. WHO DOES THAT???
2. someone from China hacked into my Google account and sent messages to all my contacts...NOT COOL!
3. Husband lost his Job.

These are just the highlights of my week

The blessings that have come out of this, is
1. We received free power for 2 days...until Xcel could replace out meter
2. I was able to delete my Google account
3. Husband found a new job making just a little bit more than his last...and it is close to home, a desk job, less stressful physically. :) He started Tuesday.
4. I have lost 2.2lbs last week!!!

It's always good to look on the brighter side of things and that is what has saved me from spiraling into a deep depression and wallow in the woe as me mode, as I would normally do.

On a side note, I am always looking for the positive so I added up everyone's wt loss at last weeks weigh in and as a group we have lost a total of
41.8lbs!
GREAT JOB LADIES!!!!
WE ROCK!!!!!

Gloria - 2nd weigh-in

Hey ladies!  This week was not so good for me in terms of eating as we went to a Rockies game on Sunday and had a cook-out at my parents on Monday.  It is hard to make good choices when there is all that pressure to eat what everyone else is eating and to not be rude to the people who paid for or prepared the food.

I lost 1.5 lbs this week.  That is a 1.14% for the week and a 3.33% overall!!  Yay for progress, I have to keep reminding myself that this won't happen overnight.

I have been craving coffee, specifically a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks, so bad these last few days.  (I used to have a cup every morning but cut it out since it was adding a lot of sugar and calories) I decided that I will get to treat myself when I get down into the 120's, which should be next week!!  Weight loss will taste so good next week!

Wow!

Ladies I tell ya what, I am so impressed with the support, inspiration, strength and ideas that we have been able to get from each other! If you have not done so go ahead and read the comments made on each others post to get ideas/help/support! This week I hit my weekly goal of two and a half pounds. Slow and steady right? My total weight loss percentage is 2.98%! (give us % from the very beginning of the competition each week please). A couple thing I learned this week to help me out.......I figured out my BMR which is how many calories I should be eating due to age, height, weight and sex. I have been counting calories to help me find good portion sizes and get used to those portions. I found out I have been going way to low on my calories and putting my body in starvation mode, also haven't been adding enough protein since I have been weight training. Another thing I learned this week is that the national standard for the amount of water we drink has changed it is no longer 8-8oz. Glasses but 12, then you are to add an extra glass if you live above 5,000 fett elevation, then you are to add another glass for every eight lbs. that you would like to lose, and then another glass for every half hour you work out. I should be drinking around 135oz. Of liquid a day! (luckily this includes other beverages you normally drink except caffeinated and alcohol). So ladies, get drinking! My huge goal accomplished this week.....hit three weeks with no soda or fast food! That might change this weekend unfortunately since we are going on a trip but here is to making good choice if I do!

Chantrie posting for week 2

Ok.  So having my anniversary and a holiday weekend all rolled into one wasn't the best for my motivation and will power.  Saturday and Sunday I ate pretty much whatever I wanted and then monday I did fine in the morning and then ate leftovers from Saturday in the afternoon.  Man that chinese food was tasty!  In my defense I did run both Saturday and Monday morning.  I am trying to maintain a workout schedule.  So I ran twice, swam one day, did a short crossfit workout one day, and yesterday I did Red Rocks.  Whew!  That was a workout.  I did not quite make my goal for the week but I did ok.
I am down to 166.2 so a 1.54% weight loss for the week and a 4.48% weight loss overall.  Here is to better food choices next week and for a continuation of good work outs for the rest of my life.  Have great weekend ladies.  Keep up the good work!

Support and this weeks weigh in

Ladies, it has been great to see the support we can give each other! This week was hoping you all could share with everyone just one or two of the things you are changing to lose weight and get healthier since this is about being healthier as well as losing weight. I am making these changes not just for the competition but the life style change to be healthier for my kiddos, hubby and myself and I hope you all feel the same. Look forward to your tips to help in my journey to get healthy!

Karen Labrum-Week1

So this weekend wasn't too great and I (Lindsay) did not clarify that posts were due on every Friday.  So next week she will be back on the saddle.  So for this week Karen is down 3 lbs.  That means her percentage is 1.95%.  We are now going to get back on track for this coming week.  Here goes nothing.

Week 1 Lindsay

This week has been a bit rough for me.  I didn't do my insanity as well as I should have, but I really tried to focus in on my eating.  I am currently at 170lbs.  In the morning I was 169 and now at 10:16PM I am 170.  Oh how I wish to break through and into the sixties.  But alas, not this week.  So my percentage is 2.86.

I also wanted to say a bit on the addictions.  Sadly, my addiction is food.  I reward myself with food.  If I feel bummed...I eat ice cream.  Just like all those sappy tv shows.  Girl gets dumped and eats the ice cream right out of the carton.  I have really focused this week on breaking that cycle.  I am trying to focus on food as nourishment and not enjoyment.  I know---that is so hard!  I have been eating more high protein meals and drinking a lot of water.  I only cheated twice this week with sugar.  Emotionally I felt awful.  I hate giving in to this silly addiction that I deserve a treat for excercising, or doing the dishes, cleaning the house.  So now you know my dirty little secret.  Now I can be accountable for it.  NO MORE "Deserves" for me.  Food is for nourishment and not reward or enjoyment!  This is my mantra.

This week goals:  Excercise DAILY, continue to eat right and recite mantra.  Dig a bit deeper into my eating trends and give no rewards.  The reward is the satisfaction that I did not give in.

Keep up the hard work girls.  This is never easy.  It is a love hate relationship.
hi everyone i lost 3 lbs this week for a total of 1.8%. so glad to see you are all making some good changes. im trying my best but still have those moments when i have to have a chocolate chip cookie. kim you know what i mean.

Callie Weigh In

Let's see... I've lost 3.4lbs this week, which is 1.8%. Great job girls! Looks like some of you have done a really great job this week! I guess I need to step it up :)

Gina- Week 1

So, I've been pretty frustrated toward the end of this week.  I've been logging my calories, staying under my calorie goals (all but 1 day), working out 3 days this week, and I have lost virtually nothing.  I gained a little over our camping trip last weekend, but figured I would be able to loose that and more within the week- nope.  I'm right where I started last Friday- 152 lbs.  This number has been a rough one for me to get below, so my goal for next week is to get into the 140's.  I think I have figured out my body's needs and I am happy that I have less craving for junk food- definilty a plus as I have evaluated this week.  Here's hoping that my mind and body will cooperate better next week!

Karin- Week 1

I TOTALLY could have had a better week. Poor planning led to poor food choices. When I thought I was eating healthy turns out I did not do my research and it was far more in calories than I planned on.

I weighed in last week at a whoppin' 285.3lbs...this morning was 284.4lbs Which is a 0.9lbs loss and gives me a percentage of 0.32%.

Positive things this week are. I made a few good choices in food. I did go work out 3 times...I did a 20 min mile. I walked lots of stairs this week (It helps when you live on the 3rd floor). AND I am off my reg Dr. Pepper. Not that I don't crave it really bad...but I have quit drinking it for 2 weeks straight! Yeah me!

This week, longer in the gym and more frequently,
Track my eating on myfitnesspal.com,
Shakeology every morning for breakfast,
PLAN! PLAN! PLAN!

Kim weigh in

Ok so I did really bad this week but at least I didn't gain any. I weighed the same so no weight loss for me. I blame it on moving and trying to get our life back in order! So this week I am feeling better not so stressed and depressed, I will do better this week! Good job to everyone else!

Could do better

Crazy week... I think I was home all of five minutes except to sleep and shower... Down 2.5 which is a .89% loss
Ok, my weight loss buddies, lets talk ADDICTIONS. I was a super hard core coca cola drinker. And not diet, either, the full sugar, fully caffeinated, whole lead stuff. It was my "drug of choice" Several a day. So here I am starting this weight loss/healthy  challenge. Went cold turkey off my coke. Cried a lot, grouched at my poor husband and kid, purposefully stayed away from people, had headaches, made me feel utterly psycho! But all natural side effects of withdrawal. Wow! I cant imagine how it is for people who have serious other addictions if this was so hard just for me for a food product. I also have to mention that sugar and junk went bye bye with the coke. So a rough week. Exercised twice a day most days. I am feeling pretty good now. My husband just might decide to keep me after all :) I know this has probably been hard for all of you too as we change our bad habits for good. I have gone from 150 to 146, a 2.67% loss. AND...drumroll please.....I can fit into a brand new pair of jeans with the tags still on them that I bought last year and got too fat to wear them and be able to breathe. Its so exciting. Congrats to all of you who are working hard to get healthier. Its a journey, a few habits at a time, and any change is good even if the weight loss doesnt always show. Im praying for all of you and sending great big hugs your way.

Gloria - 1st weigh-in

I was SO excited to step on the scale this morning and see a 3 lb weight loss!!!  All my "insane" workouts and trying to eat right are paying off (although I am really missing my morning cup of coffee, extra cream!).  I had a 2.22% of weight loss this week, so yay for seeing results!!

Naomi-Week 1

So I did pretty good if I do say so mysel! My goal is to lose 2-2.5 lbs. a week and I accomplished that! If I continue the same way for the next seven weeks I will hit my weight loss goal. My percentage doesn't look fantastic (1.19%)  but my husband commented the other day that I am looking like I am already losing weight soooo....Woohoo. Good job ladies!

Week One Down!

Had a pretty good week. I tried eathing healthier and went for a couple of walks. I usually do better than that but it's been one of those weeks. Trying to figure out how to make time for school, work and my son. I didn't eat anything all day yesterday except 3 bites of a tomato. I was too exhausted and stressed to eat. I know--not good. I'll be better to myself this next week. So I weighed in at 204.8 last week, and my goal for today was 195. I just got on the scale and was amazed to see 195.0!!! I made my goal! :)  So that means 4.79% weight loss this week! Yay!!! Here's to another week! Good luck ladies!
A new Friday!  I did great till Wednesday when I had a raging headache all day and was too tired to fix dinner and we had pizza and I overindulged a bit.  Oh well still came out all right.  I weighed in this morning at 168.8.  That is a 2.99%  weight loss.
Good luck with your weigh in today!

Dilone's Week

Well I am at 0 % loss this week.  With only a bike ride and one swim to count as exercise, I have not been active enough.  Eating Clean though so I shall continue pressing on.  Today I will get in my first workout at the gym.  Totally excited about the new gym.  We have a sticker chart for our boys, for the mornings.  Tthey get 4 out of 5 stickers, by getting up and ready for school with out me having to yell at them then they get a treat at the end of the week.  Last year it was usually ice cream from DQ.  Now it will be swimming at the new gym!  Keepn' the family healthy!

ok, so heres my biggest loser funny for the day. I am on a plan that encourages you to drink 1-2 gallons, yes gallons of water A DAY to help rid the body of extra fat and clean out toxins. So I have a water jug and I make a mark on paper when I fill and drink the jug. But the problem, after 3 kids, a bladder surgery as a kid, getting older, gaining weight, and living 45 minutes away from town is....drumroll please....not enough bathrooms. I needed to go grocery shopping at Walmart, 45 minutes from my house, today. So I use the bathroom before leaving, have to quickly find one when I get to the store, and 5 times while trying to get my grocery shopping done. It was like being pregnant again, and my "baby" is 8 years old. So here I am running around trying to get my shopping done before having to pee again. Hurry and checkout, load my groceries, adn go back to use the bathroom yet again before the 45 minute drive home. Id have to say I must be well hydrated. We are all going to have our ups and downs while trying to get healthy, but as long as we can laugh together, we'll do great. OOOPS, gotta run, need another bathroom break.

Better Late Than Never!

I'm super excited to start this challenge.  I realized at the beginning of this year that both my husband and I need to do something to get healthier.  We've gotten way too sedintary and into bad eating habits and have slowly tried to change that this year.  We love to camp, hike and be active outdoors with our children (ages 8, 5 & 3) and those things have gotten more and more difficult.  My motivation to loose weight comes from wanting to be able to camp and hike in 30 years with our grandchildren.  I've realized that we need to be healthier if we want to be active well into our 60's and beyond.

Last week I started using the "My Fitness Pal" ap to record all of my food and excercize and I have seen some of my real pitfalls in trying to loose weight (sugar, sugar, sugar!).  I've never tried a structured "diet" and I don't really want to, but I am excited to make a lifestyle change in the way that my family and I eat.  I'm also hoping to do some structured excercize 3+ times per week and be physically active every day.  I've actually lost a couple pounds since I started last week, but on Friday I weighed 152 lbs.  (We were camping all weekend, with no cell service, so I wasn't able to post my weight on Friday- sorry.)  My goal is to loose about 20 lbs that I have slowly gained (and not lost completely) after the births of each of our childern.

Thanks Naomi for getting this together.  It's such great motivation to see how everyone is working toward the same goal.

And so it begins...INSANITY!!!

Alaska Girls Signing In!
We have a late, new arrival to the competition.  She will post with me each week.  I have to have someone here to kick my butt and keep me accountable. So her info first:

Karen Labrum
I moved to Alaska 3 1/2 years ago and had 10 pounds of "baby weight" that I still needed to lose.... I have since gained 15 lbs....  Yikes!   So with now 25 pounds that I need to get off, I am more motivated than I have ever been.  I am starting at 154 pounds and would like to get down to 128.  I am an Air Force wife, have 3 kids, 15, 9, 6 and just turned 40!
Here's to being 40 and FABULOUS!!!

Lindsay Roberts

Weight has always been a struggle for me.  I have never been "thin".  That has never been the goal.  Healthy and able to keep up with my kids is the goal.  I seem to stay rather consistent in my weight, but that is the problem.  Not losing and not really gaining.  Losing weight is the goal for health and losing the muffin top or roll.  So now that my youngest is going to ALL DAY kindergarten, I now have NO EXCUSE for NOT EXCERCISING!  I have three kids; 11, 9, 5.  My beginning weight is 175lbs.  I want to be 155lbs. or less.  That means 2-3 lbs a week!!!  That will be difficult, but I am dedicated.

OUR EXERCISE GOAL:  Insanity Program for 60 days coupled with eating right...NO CHEATS because we Deserve IT for working out!  (Another one of my pitfalls!)

LET THE INSANITY GAMES BEGIN!  Good luck Everyone!

** Money for both of us will be sent tomorrow morning.  Karen's email: labrum93@gmail.com

Kim weigh in

Hello this is Kim. I have 4 kids ages 10,9,6,and 3! I have been trying to loose the "rest" of my baby weight since I had my last kid 3 years ago! I lost about 25 lbs since February but still wasn't down to my goal. Since then when summer came I had no control and have gained 10 of those pounds back. I love food and life just isn't very fun when I can't eat whatever I want whenever I want! So my weigh in 1st thing this morning with no clothes was 151. My goal is to loose about 20 lbs. I love running, taking walks and hiking. So hopefully I can get my motivation back now that school has started and summer is ending!

Ummm hi!

Hello ladies! My name is Heidi. Excited for the opportunity to join you on this journey! I am a mom of three. My oldest is a senior in high school. I have a fourteen year old freshman and my daughter is 10. I work way too full time and commute 2 hours to work each of my ten plus hour days. So eating right and exercise are most difficult. But I am as big as I have ever been... It has been a long hard year! I hurt and hate how I look and darn it I want to wear cute clothes! So here we go. 279. ( man that's horrible) that's a secret number, correct? Game on, let's have some fun!

Finally Karinaboutme!!!!!

Hi all! My name is Karin. I am a wife and a mother of 3 (2 girls 12,11 and one boy 3). I stay home and I am in the process of becoming a Host Home for an adult who has special needs. By trade I am a hairstylist. I have never been a thin girl. I am not looking to get thin, just healthy. And if the weight goes along with that goal, I welcome it. It's all about setting healthy goals for me. In the last 3 years, I have really put forth the effort in getting healthy but haven't succeeded YET. In these 3 yrs I have lost 15.4lbs and kept off 6lbs. I have lost one dress size and kept it. Progress but not enough progress. I am excited to join this group for the next 8 weeks. I NEED MOTIVATION!!! It sounds like I will get it here.

My plan? Use myfitnesspal.com to track all that goes into my mouth and how much I get up and move. I will drink Shakeology in the mornings for breakfast and exercise at night by either doing Hip Hop Abs, Turbo fire or going to the little gym for the elliptical.

I am a skinny person trapped in a big person's body...here is my starting weight...285.3lbs.

Ginger's Intro

Hi ladies! My name is Ginger Wiggins. I'm excited for this Biggest Loser competition. Nao is awesome for getting this together for us! Thx girl! I'm going to school, working, and raising my 2 yr old son. I'm a busy Mama like most of you. I LOVE to eat but SO ready to lose this weight. I've been carrying it around since my separation/divorce in 2006. My sister tells me I have wasted my 20's by being fat. :(  I'm ready to look good, feel good, and have some self confidence again. I constantly think about how I used to look and being thin again. I used to compete in pageants many moons ago and people have said to me, "You were so gorgeous!".  I don't really think that they know how much it hurts to hear- were. So lets do this ladies! You all sound like a great group of women, and I'm looking forward to getting to know each of you a bit better thru this blog and sharing your weight loss successes with you! My weigh in this morning was 204.8. My goal next Friday is 195.  :)  good luck ya'll!

Gloria's intro

Hi, my name is Gloria.  I am so excited for this little extra motivation to lose some weight and get myself looking a little better.  I am a stay-at-home mom to 4 kids, 3 of whom are in school, so I guess I really only stay home with 1 during the day, but it's still tiring and busy.  I have 3 boys and 1 girl (ages 9, 7, 5, and 2).  My husband and I are also in the process of adopting a girl from Ethiopia!  My goals for the next 8 weeks are to get in shape so I'm not huffing and puffing just running up the stairs to answer the phone, etc. and to lose weight, obviously.  I am 5'2" and currently at 135.  I have never been one that enjoys exercise or watching what I eat.  I had pretty good metabolism up until the last year, when I can just tell that I really have to eat a lot less to maintain, let alone lose.  My husband and I just ordered the Insanity videos and we're going to do that together during this 8 weeks as well.  I'm looking forward to this extra little motivation!!
Hey! I am excited to have this motivation.  No matter how much equipment I have at home, there is always something else that needs to be done.  Exercise is always the last thing on the list, and who gets to the end of their list?  Not me.  Joining a health club this week is my start.  I can go on my lunch break everyday and bust out a great half-hour. I thought for sure that with the stressful work year I had last school year, that I would have lost weight.  Nope. Put on another 20 lbs.  Final score 220!  Here we go!

Callie's Intro

Hi everyone! Here we are 6 months after the first time we did this and I'm at the exact weight I was when we started it haha. I am really looking forward to this whole thing. Finally the motivation I need to get my big butt in gear! It is nice to see so many ladies joining us. Ok, now a little info on me. Hi! My name is Callie, and I'm addicted to good food! I have been married to a wonderful man for 6 years. I am a stay at home mom to 3 little girls. The hardest part on being on a 'diet' for me is that I still have to make my family meals 3 times a day. I hope to use this opportunity to really make a life style change so I can go out when my girls are a little older and keep up with them when they want to ride bikes or whatever. Oh yes, my starting weight is 189.4 beautiful lbs :). GOOD LUCK GIRLS!

A new beginning

Well....Here I am. I have always been into fitness and being healthy and have been able to be trim even after having my kids. I am usually smaller in size than most of my family, even younger family members...until now. I went to a family reunion a few weeks ago and got a figuritive "slap in the face" because I was most definitely catching up to other family members in size. A few of my family even mentioned the change on me. When youre used to being a size 3 and are buying 6 sizes bigger, oh my! I had surgery, then a car wreck that left me eating whatever I wanted and not exercising for more than a year. I gained 40 pounds in a year! I am looking forward to getting my better self back. The charts from the doctors office say I am morbidly obese. What kind of word is morbidly?? It sounds awful and feels worse. I am 5 feet "and a little bit" tall and currently weigh 150 pounds. I look forward to all of us encouraging each other to get healthy and lose weight together.

Naomi week 1 weigh-in

So at the gym the other day I had to do a physical assessment with one of the trainers and he needed my weight. I looked down at the scale and felt like crying. The trainer said, don't worry that will be the last and only time you will see that number on a scale. Boy was he right I hope to never see that number in a scale again! I weigh today, 167.4 lbs my highest weight ever. I have not been watching my eating and after this last baby I just let go. I have had 4 little girls in the past five years, and although they are totally worth it, they and myself did a number on my body. My goals for the next eight weeks are to lose twenty lbs. that would be two and a half l s. a week. Pleas help me with any suggestions and tips you want to share and I will do the same. GOOD LUCK!

It begins. . .

It begins. . .  I am excited and also not so excited to begin.  I ate whatever I wanted this week (4 cookies last night).  My name is Chantrie and I am a mother of 3 beautiful girls.  I am looking forward to losing some of that baby weight.  Last year before I was pregnant with my 3rd, I was on a roll and I lost about 12 pounds by somersizing and doing Wii fit.  I would like to lose that much this time around.  It is going to be alot of hard work.  Bring it on!  Good luck ladies.  Here is to forming healthy habits and staying fit.
